Marcus GibsonMarcus Gibson: Gibson Index

Marcus is a specialist writer and researcher, focusing on high potential small technology companies. In 2003 he started the Gibson Index, a database of 27,700 UK-based technology SMEs, as well as a monthly eNewsletter and Events Diary.

The database is used by firms such as QinetiQ, P&G and Rolls-Royce to locate small companies for collaborative purposes. Prior to this he wrote for The Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, The Times, Time Magazine, and worked at The European and BBC Radio 4 in various editorial roles.

He has reported from to three Olympic Games, and has been advising various institutions on sport, transport and allied entertainment matters in the run-up to the 2012 Games in London.

He has written two books. In 1984, he wrote ‘The Dictionary of the British Heritage’ for Cambridge University Press, and in 2004, ‘Bootstrapping Your Business’, with US entrepreneur Greg Gianforte.

Marcus was educated at the English public school, Stowe, in Buckinghamshire, where only the UK’s most stupid pupils were ever sent – and which more famously produced the entrepreneur Richard Branson.
